Dal Khichdi is made using lentils and rice, as the name suggests. With ghee (clarified butter), cumin seeds, ginger, and asafoetida, it’s a highly healthful Indian food. Because of its nutritional benefits and ease of preparation, it is one of the best comfort foods. It’s not only nutritious but also delicious and flavorful. With a dash of ghee, I like it to be more watery.
Let’s begin cooking.
Ingredients
Directions
Heat Pressure Cooker with 1 1/2 tbsp ghee
Add cumin seeds (jeera), bay leaf, asafoetida(hing), ginger and saute
Add onions and slit green chilli and fry until golden brown color (about 7 minutes)
Add tomatoes, turmeric powder, salt and red chilli powder Saute until mushy (3-5 minutes) and you see oil coming out from the sides.
Add dal and fry for 3-4 minutes until mixed well
Add rice and mix well with the dal and the other masala
Now add 4 cups boiling water. Taste the water, it has to be a little salty.
Cover the pressure cooker and light the gas on medium flame for 4 whistles and switch off the gas.
Once the pressure has gone down, slowly and safely open the pressure cooker Pour the ghee on the top of the khichdi

Serve with a spicy picke and Papad. You comfort food is ready in minutes!!
Conclusion
You can make this in pressure cooker or regular utensil If you dont like your khichdi watery, you can add only 2 cups of water instead of 4 Ghee can be used as per your preference Green chilly is optional To thoroughly enjoy this dal khichdi have it piping hot!
